Well, it's Friday and around our house the homeschool week comes to a close and we go into a different mode. What exactly that looks like is difficult to describe actually! Our homeschooling/building/farm lifestyle is very flexible and so there is a natural ebb and flow that defies calendar boundaries. Yet, the weekend still feels different from the week for some reason. Maybe it's the opportunity to visit with family and friends as their work weeks have ended. Maybe it is just a bit more relaxed. Either way, Fridays are always good!
I thought I would add one more good thing to Fridays: Feature Friday. It's an opportunity for you to get to know a bit more about the work we do, our products and the people behind Riverstone Studios. Ever since my husband and I started dreaming of running our own business we have always felt it was to be like a community. Riverstone Studios is not just about our family and what we are doing. It is about a community of people expressing ourselves through creativity - and our desire to share those gifts with others. I guess I would like to capture the heart of Riverstone Studios and send it your way.
Honey 'n Oats Soap - Riverstone Studios Handmade Soaps, Pottery & More
When I was a teenager, I used to mix honey and oats in a bowl and plaster it on my face. I loved the way if made my skin feel tight and clean. Thinking back on it now, it was kind of funny. I used to sit perched on the edge of the bathtub with a towel on my lap ready to catch the odd blob that would fall from my plastered face. When I began dreaming of making handmade soaps again this was the first soap on my list. I found a recipe with a combination of Olive, Coconut and Caster Oils to replenish and soften the skin and went with a bit of creativity from there.
Switching from regular, store bought brands of soap has really impacted our family. There is a strong feeling of satisfaction knowing that we are using soaps with natural ingredients on our skin without the added chemicals, preservatives and fregrances. Even our 6 year old son is making a concious choice when choosing soaps to clean with. For a while we had various bottles of unfinished shampoo or soaps around the house along with my handmade soaps to choose from. One day he told me that he prefers our soap because it is better for him. As a parent it makes me feel so good knowing I can provide my children with healthy choices.
A bit about our soaps:
We use as many natural and organic ingredients in our soaps as possible to provide a healthy, gentle soap for everyone in your household. We feel we have a responsability in caring for our environment and our bodies and so we've carefully chosen to include sustainable and renewable ingredients without adding chemicals, fregrances or petrolium products. We allow the natural ingredients themselves to provide any fregrance that may be found in our soaps. We do not add any fregrance oils or herbal essences therefore our soaps are considered unscented or fregrance free.
Honey 'n Oats Soap Ingredients: Raw Local Honey, Rolled Oats, Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Vegetable Lard, Caster Oil, Distilled Water, Lye.
100% Vegan Soap
